Trachycarpus Overview

Trachycarpus is a small genus containing 9 evergreen palm species which evolved from locations in Asia and the Himalayas through to Eastern China. They are grown for their fan-shaped, palmately lobed foliage, dense yellow flowers and nice overall growth habit, making nice specimen trees in warm climates. They should be sheltered from cold winds and grown under glass in frost-prone climates for optimal growth. These are considered some of the most robust palms, able to tolerate snow in their natural habitats.
