Festuca Overview
Large genus of around 664 perennial evergreen or herbaceous, rhizomatous grasses. Growth follows a clumping habit and this genus is found in a wide range of temperate habitats including grasslands, stream and woodland edges. They are typically grown for their linear, blue-green foliage. Some species are favoured for their flowers, which are small and pinkish brown coloured, in the form of spikelets on the ends of long bare stems.
