Ruscus Bamboo Overview
This evergreen bamboo species has a compact growth habit. Originally from China and Japan, this species forms dense clumps of foliage with pale green canes, these typically measure around 1.5m in height and with age become brown in colour. Leaves measure 10cm long. Commonly used as hedging and screening or even groundcover plants in small gardens, this species is also known by the name ruscus-leaved bamboo. They prefer an acidic soil and a shady position but can grow in full sun as long as the soil remains damp. May be invasive in the correct conditions so plant with care in locations you can easily control.
