Common Houseleek Overview
Sempervivum tectorum is an evergreen species in the Crassulaceae family. It has a vigorous, mat-forming growth habit, producing fleshy rosettes of foliage measuring around 10cm across. Leaves are coloured blue-green and tinged with red-purple colouring, especially when planted in strong sunlight. Starry purple flowers are produced on flattened cyme arrangements measuring approximately 20cm in height. This plant is termed monocarpic as after flowering, it dies.
