Ice Plant Overview

Hylotelephium spectabile is a long-lived, herbaceous perennial plant from the Crassulaceae family. It is grown for both the foliage and flowers. Leaves are blue-green in colour, with scalloped edges. This compact, mound-forming perennial, typically grows to around 45cm in height, it produces fleshy, blue-green leaves and attractive flowers, popular with bees. Small, starry, pink flowers are produced from summer-autumn, in flat clusters measuring up to 15cm across. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. Many cultivars have been developed from this species for garden use. Grow this hardy plant in full sun, in well-draining soil.
