Learn to plant a legacy

Whether it's childhood memories of clambering through branches or lazy summer afternoons walking through city parks, trees permeate the background of some of our fondest memories.
Widely known for their benefits for wildlife and the planet, trees also play a vital role in the health and wellbeing of people and our communities, which we may take for granted.
So, to raise awareness of the benefits these mighty sentinels bring, we're encouraging everyone, old and young, urbanites and rural forest-dwellers, to become 'Tree Inspired' this National Tree Week!
Over the next three weeks, we'll be sharing information aplenty on all the benefits trees bring, the best trees you can get planting in your garden and some amazing stories about some of the most ancient trees in the UK.
Here's plantsman and broadcaster Chris Beardshaw with more information.

The Community Forest Trust

If that wasn't enough, Candide has also teamed up with the Community Forest Trust, an organisation whose sole purpose it is to champion and support community forests across England.

Who Are The Community Forest Trust?

We're hoping to raise £10,000 for them, which will enable the planting of 1,000 trees in woodland across England this winter. To help us achieve this target, you can purchase a number of sustainable items in our marketplace, including virtual Christmas cards.
Approximately 1 billion cards are sold in the UK every year, according to the Greeting Card Association. This is equal to around 330,000 trees or about 11 square kilometres of mature forest!

You can also dedicate a tree to a loved one and receive a personalised e-certificate.
Or make a donation and receive a free pack of wildflower seeds.
If you're still keen to send Christmas cards, make sure they're certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) to ensure the paper is sustainably produced.

If this wasn't enough, we’ll also be giving away £250 Candide Marketplace credit to 2 lucky winners!
To enter, either share your #TreeInspired memory to Instagram, using the hashtag and tagging candidegardening or purchase an e-card donation from Community Forest Trust. Or do both for 2 entries! Find more details on our Instagram page. Giveaway runs from November 21st- December 8th.
