Mini Monstera Overview
Rhaphidophora tetrasperma is easily confused with other loosely related genera such as Monstera and Philodendron, which are all in the arum family, Araceae. Rhaphidophora species are in fact from a completely different part of the world. Also known as Monstera Minima, Mini Monstera and Monstera Piccolo, amongst other names, this plant is popular with aroid and houseplant enthusiasts. It grows well in bright, partial shade and enjoys a moist, well-draining potting medium. Place in moss mixed with soil and perlite for a simple aroid mix. This plant originates from Southern Thailand and Malaysia. Grown for their attractive foliage which varies in structure with age. Developing into pinnately divided and longer stalked arrangements as plants mature. Flowers are produced on mature specimens, most often when grown outside and these are rarely produced on plants grown as houseplants. These are petalless and arranged on a flowering spike surrounded by a yellow-green spathe.
