Lysimachia ciliata 'Firecracker' is a herbaceous perennial from the Primulaceae family. This cultivar is mainly grown for the deep, purple, lance-shaped leaves. Also commonly known as Purple Loosestrife or Loosestrife 'Firecracker', this plant has previously been sold under the names Lysimachia ciliata 'Fire Cracker' and Lysimachia ciliata 'Purpurea'. In summer, Purple Loosestrife produces clusters of yellow, star-shaped flowers on upright, leafy stems that appear to nod. The flowers measure up to 2.5cm in diameter. Plant in full sun to partial shade for best results, this plant enjoys poorly, draining, moist soil.
