Holly 'Golden King' Overview

Ilex x altaclerensis 'Golden King' is a bit of a misnomer, this very male sounding hybrid cultivar is actually a female plant! It has a bushy habit that forms a large evergreen shrub or small tree. Leaves have a bright yellow margin around a green centre and are slightly spiny. In summer, small dull white flowers appear, developing into red berries in autumn, provided a male pollinating plant is nearby. This plant has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
