Heliotrope Overview
This is an evergreen species which is a half-hardy annual. The flowers produce an intense fragrance, and the blooms are deep lavender-blue which will fade to violet. A lovely companion for other annuals such as Marigolds, Gomphrena and Verbenas. It will languish in an unprotected, cold site. Remove the faded flowers to promote new blooms. If grown in a container, your Heliotrope will winter easily indoors. In warmer regions, this plant will sometimes perennialize and can be grown as an evergreen shrub, blooming through the winter.
