Hebe 'Pagei' Overview
Veronica pinguifolia 'Pagei' is a low-growing, dwarf, evergreen shrub that forms a spreading mat of small silvery-grey leaves, oblong in shape. In late spring and early summer, it produces dense short spikes of white flowers. Also known as Hebe 'Pagei', it needs well-drained soil that is on the alkaline to neutral - rather than acid - side. It is happy in partial shade, as well as full sun. Low maintenance and easy to grow, Veronica pinguifolia 'Pagei' is popular with gardeners as ground cover, for coastal gardens and for covering banks and slopes. This lovely and useful cultivar has earned a coveted 'RHS Award of Garden Merit' and is on the RHS 'Plants for Pollinators' list highlighting plants that produce large amounts of nectar and/or pollen. A great choice for encouraging beneficial insect wildlife into your garden! Previously known as Hebe pinguifolia 'Pagei', this plant's name change was announced by NATAG (RHS Nomenclature and Taxonomy Advisory Group) in the December 2020 edition of The Plant Review.
