Euonymus fortunei 'Emerald 'n' Gold' is a dwarf evergreen shrub that has a spreading habit and can be trained up walls if given support. Also known by the name Spindle 'Emerald 'n' Gold', it produces broadly yellow-margined leaves that have a pink tinge in winter. It occasionally produces a few small, inconspicuous greenish flowers. This favoured cultivar of Euonymus fortunei, or Spindle - awarded a Golden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society - can brighten up a shady corner. It prefers poor soil and a sunny position but it also does well in full or partial shade. It is extremely versatile and needs little maintenance, so is a popular choice for busy gardeners!
