Globe Thistle 'Veitch's Blue' Overview
Echinops ritro 'Veitch's Blue' is a herbaceous perennial cultivar that produces darker blue flowers compared to the species it was developed from, Echinops ritro. It grows to around a metre in height, with an upright habit. It produces spiky, jaggedly-divided dark green foliage which resembles that of thistles, coloured white underneath. Flowers are thistly, spherical and borne on branching stems. This cultivar is fully hardy, plant in a position of full or partial sun, in well-draining soil for optimal growth. This cultivar is part of the Royal Horticultural Society “Plants for Pollinators” initiative to showcase plants which support pollinator populations by providing ample amounts of nectar and/ or pollen. A great choice for encouraging pollinating insect wildlife into your garden!
