Hopseed Bush Overview
A variable species growing throughout Australia, New Zealand and the tropical regions of America, Africa and Asia. This is a dense and fast growing plant bearing elliptic, pale green sticky leaves with wavy edges. The yellowish 3-winged capsule fruits are produced in terminal clusters and turn brown, pink or purple when mature. Is best pruned to be upright to 3m tall. Good for screening and hedging. 'Purpurea', from New Zealand, has bronze-leaves and purplish- red fruit capsules.
