Buddleja 'Royal Red' Overview
This lovely Buddleja davidii cultivar is a deciduous shrub with arching branches and dark green, lance-shaped foliage that is white on the underside of its leaves. It produces showy inflorescences arranged in long panicles of small, scented, purple-red flowers from late summer to early autumn. Buddleja davidii 'Royal Red' is a vigorous grower and popular not only with gardeners, but also a wide range of pollinating insects, reflected by being on the RHS list of 'Plants for Pollinators'! It originates for China and Japan. This Butterfly Bush, like lots of other buddleias, is hardy - and tolerant of most garden situations. It does best however, in a sunny position in moist, well-drained soil. Also being drought-tolerant and low-maintenance, what's not to like?!
