Kowhai Overview
Sophora prostrata is an evergreen shrub species in the Fabaceae family. It is native to New Zealand and has interesting zig-zagging stems and delicate little rounded leaves. Commonly known by the names Kowhai, Prostrate Kowhai or Dwarf Kowhai. Flowers are yellow and appear in the spring, they have a beaked look during their development. Sophora prostrata is half-hardy and can cope with mild frost, particularly if kept in a sheltered position, grow in full sun or partial shade and well-draining soil.
