Laurel Fig Overview
Ficus retusa is a spreading, broad-crowned, evergreen tree or shrub species in the Moraceae family. This sturdy plant can reach over 10m in height when grown in ideal conditions, however, it is also a very popular choice for bonsai, and often grown as such. The trunk is smooth and coloured light grey, the leaves are egg-shaped and on average grow to over 10cm in length. Leaves are arranged alternately on stems. The main difference between this plant and the related plant it is often mistaken for, Ficus microcarpa, is the longer length of the leaves.
