Platycarya Overview

A monotypic genus comprising one species of of deciduous shrub in the Juglandaceae (walnut) family native to parts of East Asia. The divided leaves resemble those of the ash tree and they have upright catkins followed by cone-shaped fruit. The species is popular in cultivation for its Autumn colour. They prefer a site in full sun with well-drained soil.
