Blue Bugle Overview
Ajuga reptans is chosen for its leaf colour and foliage, as it makes a great background to other plants through late spring to summer. It suits a range of garden styles from informal cottage to wildflower meadow gardens. It can be used as a groundcover plant, and is grown in borders as well as pots and containers. Its flowers attract pollinating insects, with spikes of blue flowers in spring. The wild species is, however, invasive, but selected cultivars are popular plants in gardens. The 'Alba', for example, has white flowers.
