Bedstraw Overview

Galium is a large genus of annual or herbaceous perennial flowering plants in the Rubiaceae family from temperate zones worldwide comprising 659 accepted species. They have lax, sometimes scrambling stems carrying whorls of lanceolate leaves and panicles of star-shaped white or yellow flowers. Commonly cultivated species are known as bedstraw or woodruff. They prefer a shady spot and are perfect as ground cover plants.
