Iron tree Overview
A genus with 55 species of trees, shrubs or vines in the Myrtaceae family with a wide distribution across many of the the islands of the Pacific Ocean with one or two found in South America and one in Africa. Several species and many cultivars are grown as street trees or garden and park specimens for their showy, usually red (but sometimes orange, yellow or white) pincushion-like flowers.
