Ardisia crenata is a compact, perennial shrub species in the primrose family, Primulaceae. It produces glossy, dark green foliage with wavy edges that are alternately arranged on stems. Typically this plant doesn't branch much, it produces small white to red, scented flowers in clusters. These lead onto shiny red drupe fruits. Grown as an ornamental species, this plant is also considered invasive, particularly in the southeastern United States.
