Eschscholzia is a genus containing roughly 12 hardy, annual species which produce poppy-like flowers. These are typically yellow, orange, pink or white, with 4 wedge-shaped petals. Foliage is divided and fern-like in appearance. This genus contains the cultivated and well-known species including Eschscholzia californica, which is the state flower of California and also known as the California poppy.
