Magic Carpet Saxifrage Overview

Saxifraga stolonifera ''Tricolor'' is a herbaceous perennial cultivar from the Saxifragaceae family. This attractive plant is semi-evergreen when grown under glass and reaches an average height of around 30cm. It produces long, slim, red stolons and rounded, hairy foliage measuring 10cm across, leaves are attractively variegated in shades of red-green, green and pink. This cultivar produces delicate white flowers arranged on branched inflorescences called panicles. Flowers have 2 main petals on the lower side, which are significantly larger than the other 3 petals, these are reduced in size and have yellow and/ or pink patterning on their inner surfaces. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. This plant is grown around the world as an ornamental species for its flowers and foliage, it is also a popular houseplant.
