Silver-Vase Bromeliad 'Primera' Overview

Aechmea fasciata 'Primera' is an evergreen perennial epiphyte with funnel-shaped rosettes of green leaves with horizontal silvery-grey patterning. A dense, central, terminal spike of small, purple, tubular flowers are formed, surrounded by colourful, pink, triangular modified leaves known as bracts. It produces a spherical, woolly, fleshy fruit. Like many other bromeliads, this plant is adapted to rainforest environments. It is a popular indoor plant that may even be grown outdoors in subtropical and tropical regions. Grow in bright, partial sun, this plant enjoys higher humidity, you could group plants together or place on a pebble tray to improve the immediate humidity around your plant. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit. It is also protected under intellectual property laws by Plant Breeders' Rights. These provide the breeder of new plants exclusive control over the plant material for a set amount of time.
