Vinca minor 'Bowles's Variety', known as Lesser periwinkle is an evergreen mat-forming perennial shrub that produces large, violet-blue flowers in mid-spring. V. 'Bowles's Variety is a vigorous plant happy in almost all locations making it ideal to use as ground cover; however, given its preferred growing conditions of full sun and moist rich soil, it can spread too much and become a bit of a nuisance. Fortunately, it is easily cut back and can be controlled. This cultivar has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
