Slipper Orchid Overview
Cypripedium is a genus consisting of around 60 species of terrestrial hardy orchid, including many nothospecies created by a natural hybridisation between two species. This genus is known by the name slipper orchids for their complex flower appearance. They can bear 1-12 flowers, with most species producing around 2 or 3 and common colours are pink, white and yellow. Distribution ranges across most of the Northern Hemisphere, including Europe, the USA and Central Asia in both tropical and tundra habitats.
