Helianthus maximiliani is a herbaceous perennial that produces beautiful yellow flowers in late Summer and Autumn creating a wall of yellow. Though the flowers are not as showy as some of the annual Helianthus, its repeat performance every year is great to behold. Unlike many of the other perennial Helianthus, Helianthus maximiliani will grow as tall as the annuals getting as high as 3 meters tall. This sunflower was named after the German Prince Maximilian of Wied-Neuweid who discovered it during an expedition through North America.
