Pineapple Overview

Ananas is a genus containing around 6 typically evergreen, terrestrial perennial plants from the Bromeliaceae family. They are native to South and Central America and includes the widely cultivated pineapple plant, Ananas comosus. They form rosettes of long, tough leaves form from the crown and flowers rise from the centre of the rosette on a short, sturdy stalk. The fruit becomes fleshy and ripe, with its own leaf rosette crown.
