A monotypic genus comprising 1 species of aromatic mat-forming herbaceous perennial flowering plant in the Rubiaceae family native to the Caucasus and Iran. It has whorls of narrow, pointed leaves and terminal clusters of small tubular pink flowers in Summer. Known as crosswort, it is commonly cultivated as a ground cover or rockery plant.
