Pothos Overview

Scindapsus is a genus containing around 35 species in the aroid family, Araceae. They are evergreen perennials with climbing habits and this genus is closely related to Epipremnum. These genera are difficult to distinguish between – it comes down to the number of seeds they produce, but both rarely flower in cultivation. Scindapsus species produce one kidney-shaped seed compared to Epipremnum, which produce multiple. These plants are typically grown for their attractive foliage, many variegated cultivars exist. They are common houseplants, particularly Scindapsus pictus, which is commonly called Satin Pothos.
