Brain Cactus Overview
Mammillaria elongata 'Cristata' is a cactus species from the Cactaceae family with an unusual crested appearance. It has a clumping growth habit and produces multiple, twisting stems, hence the common name, Brain Cactus. It looks particularly good when grown in skull-shaped flower pots. A popular choice for plant enthusiasts, a few variations of this crested form exist in cultivation, the spines may be red, yellow or white in colour. It typically flowers in the spring, the blooms are white-yellow in colour, sometimes with pink.
