Basket plant Overview
Aeschynanthus is a genus of just under 200 evergreen, climbing, perennials, well suited to arrangements in hanging containers. They come from subtropical climates and tend to be epiphytic, growing on the surfaces of other organisms and gleaning nutrition from their immediate surroundings. Species in this genus vary greatly in their features, some have thick waxy cuticles and others thin, soft leaves. These plants range in size and in temperate locations they are cultivated as popular houseplants, producing showy, red-orange flowers in clusters.
