Hyssop Overview

A genus of aromatic herbaceous perennial plants and semi-woody evergreen shrubs in the Lamiaceae family native to the Mediterranean and Central Asia with 7 accepted species. They have narrow leaves and tubular blue flowers arranged in whorls up the flowering stem. H. officinalis, the herb known as hyssop, is the most widely cultivated species. It prefers full sun and a well-drained soil.
