Mitraria is a genus comprising of just 1 species of woody climber, M. coccinea, this genus is thus termed monotypic. Also known as Chilean mitre flower or scarlet mitre pod. This species resides in the Gesneriaceae family and is native to Chile where it is found in temperate rainforests. It is a popular garden plant grown for its attractive scarlet-orange tubular flowers, thriving in cool, moist climates in a sheltered position.
