This tree normally grows up to around 12m tall. The foliage is finely toothed and ovate to elliptical. The undersides of the young leaves are downy. The white, star-like flowers are profuse and held on pendulous racemes. In autumn, red-purple fruits are produced which look like tiny apples. The autumn also turns the foliage shades of red and orange.
