Cut Leaf Philodendron Overview

Thaumatophyllum xanadu is an attractive evergreen perennial in the Araceae family. It strongly resembles the species Thaumatophyllum bipinnatifidum, and is often confused with it due to their leaf and habit similarities. Both of these were formerly in the genus Philodendron. In fact, these two plants are a new distinct genus. You might know this particular houseplant better by its old name, Philodendron xanadu. This tender species should be positioned in bright partial to shaded light, in well-draining, moist, soil high in organic matter for optimal growth. This plant produces fantastic lobed leaves on long stems up to a metre in length. Leaves are ornate and measure approximately 40cm long by 30cm wide. Flowers are enclosed within dark red spathe structures. Take care when growing this plant, as all parts of it can cause severe discomfort if consumed.
