Fukien Tea Tree Overview

Ehretia microphylla is a shrub or tree species from the borage family, Boraginaceae. It is a popular choice for bonsai techniques. Commonly known by the names Fukien Tea Tree and Philippine Tea, this plant was previously well known as Carmona retusa. The leaves are small, hairy, oval-shaped and dark green in colour, this plant forms a knotted, light grey trunk with age. Flowers are star-shaped, scented, white or purple in colour and these are arranged on branched inflorescences. Leading on to yellow, orange or red drupe fruits.
