Spiraea japonica 'Magic Carpet' is also known by the common name Japanese spirea 'Magic Carpet'. It is a deciduous shrub species with a low-growing, bushy habit. Foliage is oval in shape and changes colour as it develops, leaves open red, then change to yellow, displaying red initial growth at every stage. Flowers are produced in summer and arranged in flat clusters, they are small and coloured deep pink.
