    Overview

    Chionochloa rubra is an attractive, evergreen grass species from the Poaceae family. It is commonly known by the named Red Tussock Grass and Haumata. It forms attractive tussocks, made of slim, red-tinged leaves. Flowers form on taller stems, up to 1.5m tall. The small flowers are white, consisting of awned spikelets. The flowers appear from late summer This species has earnt a Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit.
