Sweet Mace Overview
Tagetes lucida is a tender perennial plant from the Asteraceae family. It originates from Mexico to Honduras and has a bushy growth habit. This plant is known by many common names including Sweet Mace, Mexican Tarragon and Marigold. It is often grown as an annual plant, typically reaching 75cm in height. It produces aromatic foliage, coloured glossy green, the leaves are straight and measure around 7-5cm in length. The leaves can be used for cooking, they are considered a good substitute for Tarragon in Mexican cuisine. Flowers are small and arranged in clusters, coloured golden-yellow, they appear from late summer to autumn.
