Japanese Pagoda Tree Overview
This spreading, deciduous tree has dark green young branches and long, pinnate leaves that turn yellow in autumn. It is cultivated for its elegant habit, and fragrant, pea-like flowers. As the Japanese Pagoda Tree requires long, hot summers to flower well, it is best grown in a shrub border or as a specimen plant at the base of a sunny wall. Several cultivars are available, such as 'Gold Standard', 'Pendula', and 'Violacea'.
