Japanese Umbrella Pine Overview

Sciadopitys verticillata is known as a living fossil, it is classified in the Sciadopityaceae family of conifers. It is an evergreen tree endemic to Japan that is commonly known as the umbrella pine because of its umbrella-like whorls of leaves. In cultivation it requires a sheltered position in full sun and an acid soil.
