Poppy mallow Overview

Genus of around 9 hardy annual and tap-rooted perennial species also called poppy mallows. They originate from prairie and grasslands in North America. This genus has alternate leaves which are deeply palmately lobed and cup-shaped brightly coloured flowers, common colours include a range of shades of pink and purple. One species Callirhoe involucrata is cultivated as a garden plant and does particularly well in dry soils.
