Bamboo Palm Overview
Dypsis lutescens is a tender, evergreen, multi-stemmed palm species in the palm family, Arecaceae. It can grow up to 8m tall, producing large leaves, up to 2m in length, that are lance-shaped and with yellow-green leaflets. Grown mainly for the tropical feeling foliage, the leaves are frond-like and arching, growing on cane stems. It makes a fantastic houseplant and is often chosen as an office plant. It may produce small yellow flowers in the summer. This species has many common names, including Areca Palm, Yellow Palm, Butterfly Palm, and Golden Feather Palm. It has a clumping habit, originating from the Philippines, Madagascar and South India.
