Lovage Overview

A monotypic genus comprising one species of upright herbaceous perennial plant, L. officinale, in the Apiaceae family with a distribution throughout Europe and Southwestern Asia that may reflect its widespread use as a culinary herb that has resulted in its naturalisation in many non-native countries. Known commonly as lovage, it has aromatic, celery-scented pinnately-divided leaves and large umbels of tiny greenish-yellow flowers.
