Great family day out with fairy trail, cafe, walled garden and meadows.
About Archerfield Walled Garden
There’s something magical about Archerfield Walled Garden in East Lothian and we’re not just talking about the exquisite planting arrangements. Little kids and big kids alike should prepare to be thoroughly enchanted by the fairy trail at the end of a willow-lined walk.
But fairies aren’t the only winged creatures you’ll encounter at Archerfield Walled Garden. Each corner of this former Victorian kitchen garden is bursting with pollinator-friendly florals, from the colourful beds of edible plants and the fragrant cut flower patch to the perennial meadow where swaying grasses such as Stipa tenuissima calm the mind.
Its looping hedge-lined pathways offer a relaxing escape from the bustle of everyday life whether you’re here for a gentle amble or a scenic jog or cycle. A stroll through the Market Garden reveals a veritable feast of fresh produce, which, you’ll be pleased to hear, is served up in The Garden Café. After filling up on locally grown grub, top off your visit with a tipple in the on-site microbrewery. A garden with a brewery? Now that is magical.
