Fallopia baldschuanica is a deciduous climber, so it will lose all its leaves in autumn, then fresh new foliage appears again each spring.
This plant is extremely fast-growing and it can easily become a problem. Whilst often grown as an ornamental, it can become invasive in a range of conditions and locations. Take care where this is planted as it really spreads.
Russian Vine can be a useful plant for covering unsightly garden structures and scrambling through trees, but be warned - it will smother everything that gets in its way!
