Black cumin is a delicate looking and oriental spice, with soft, feathered foliage. It is an annual but readily self-seeds each year. This charming plant is widely grown for its black seeds to be used in cooking. Black Cumin seeds are similar to fennel in smell but have a peppery warm taste that is very close to nutmeg. If you are growing for flavour, Black Cumin packs a lot of flavour into its tiny seeds. Black Cumin is also known as Black Caraway, Roman Coriander and Blackseed. Growing Information: Sow directly into moist, finely raked, weed-free soil at a depth of 5mm, 30cm apart. Thin seedlings to 25cm between plants and use spare seedlings to fill any gaps. Germination 14-21 days. Can be sown September/October for flowering the next year.
