If you're anxious about sending plants via courier, we get it! There’s nothing more disappointing than receiving a dead plant in the post. First impressions do count, so whilst the plant inside may be quite alright after some recovery time, it can still be a nuisance to receive, especially if you end up with soil everywhere!

Here are four steps for delivering plants through Covid-19 and tips for making sure they arrive safely.
1. Find the right courier
DPD will pick up from your house, so there's no need to go out to the Post Office. They're regularly updating their status

2. Package your plants properly
There are loads of ways to package plants, we loved Rose Hardy's tips in her video below.
- Wrap the pot in a compostable bag to keep soil and water in. Send it damp, not wet, the extra weight will cost you!
- Place it in a reused cardboard box, holding it in place with canes.
- Reuse any suitable material to fill the extra space, like paper shredding, loo roll card or cut up egg boxes.
- Write “Live Plants” large on the box.
- Pierce a small hole in the box for ventilation.

3. Estimate your delivery cost

4. Book delivery
Send plants on Mondays or Tuesdays so that they have the whole week to arrive and don’t end up in storage over the weekend. Use next day delivery for plants, so they're not sat in a box for an extended period.

Candide is pledging to insure the first 100
growers to list their plants on the Candide Marketplace covering the cost of replacement plants and delivery if an item gets lost or damaged.
Any plants sold via a Candide Marketplace listing before 30 June by a professional grower will be covered up to £20 per plant, a maximum of 10 claims per grower. To qualify the grower must have delivered a replacement plant to the buyer and have confirmation of this via the Candide app platform.
